Following on from her success with Little Star Writing classes, Mel came to topclick to discuss a new idea which she wanted to launch online, Authorfy. The concept was to create a portal for schools so that they could teach unique creative writing classes based on a selection of books each term. The learning resources would involve videos from the Authors themselves, lesson plans, competitions and lots more! All run through a subscription based service. As a new business the branding also needed to be considered to reflect the fun, interactive educational learning portal that Authorfy would become.
It was important that the website had good browser compatibility as schools often have much older computer systems.
It was also important for the product to be accessible to the schools that have a large amount of sites and technologies blocked (such as YouTube and social media platforms)
It was key that the website worked as both a brochure site to attract new customers and as a user friendly “web app” on which subscribed users can easily upload work and download lesson plans.
An animation motif was used (the “shine lines”) to keep the feeling of excitement throughout the site. This was to help stay on brand and to keep it aimed at it target audience (children, teachers and members of the children publishing industry)
